Residential Carpet Cleaning

Deep Cleaning Your Carpet

Wouldn’t you love to hear, "Your carpet looks & feels amazing"? You can when you maintain your carpet regularly! Carpet should be professionally cleaned at least once per year, or more frequently if there is a lot of people/pet traffic. A deep cleaning will remove general soiling, food and drink spills, allergens, germs, and pet dander. It will also help to lift crushed or matted fibers, making the carpet fluffy and soft again! In addition to deep cleaning, we also offer pet treatment as a solution for urine stains and odor decontamination, as well as carpet protector to help your carpet last longer.

Your residential carpet cleaning also comes with a 30-Day Guarantee. If any spots wick up from the pad and re-appear after the carpet has dried, let us know and we’ll happily take care of it at no extra charge.

Carpet Cleaning FAQs

Our Carpet Cleaning Process

  • 1: Walk-Thru

We do this with every customer to address any areas of concern, take measurements, determine the best cleaning process for the carpet and set clear expectations of results prior to cleaning. (A black light will also be used to identify pet areas to be treated.)

  • 2: Prep & Protection

We use floor/corner protection & our Orange Seal-A-Door covering as needed.

  • 3: Vacuum

We will vacuum using our HEPA vacuum so dust and any harmful particulates do not become airborne. This is also done to lift the pile of the carpet to prepare it for pre-spray and cleaning.

  • 4: Pre-Spray

We use a pre-spray to break down any soiling or sticky substances left behind by spills or foot traffic that were not removed with vacuuming.

  • 5: Scrubbing

We use a Counter Rotating Brush Machine (CRB) to work in the pre-spray, lift the carpet pile and pull out deeply embedded soil from the backing of the carpet. This step helps to restore the original look and feel of your carpet pile.

  • 6: Cleaning

We clean using a truck mounted Hot Water Extraction System (commonly referred to as "steam cleaning") and specialty cleaning tools along with cleaning agents designed specifically for your carpet type.

  • 7: Carpet Protector (Optional)

This is an optional add-on. A protector like Scotchgard is applied to the carpet after the cleaning. This application helps protect the carpet fibers from wear, staining and can actually improve your vacuuming efficiency. Your carpet will look great and last longer!

This application (on wall-to-wall installed carpet only) also includes a 12-month Spot & Spill Warranty. For more information, check the FAQ section below.

  • 8: Grooming

As needed, we will rake through the carpet to lift the pile and help the carpet to dry more evenly.

Residential Carpet Cleaning FAQs

Got questions? We've got answers! Explore our FAQs to find quick solutions to common questions about our services, policies, and more.

  • How Do I Prepare For My Carpet Cleaning?

    1) Please schedule any other contractors outside of our cleaning time.

    2) Please schedule driveway sealing/coating for AFTER we’ve been there to clean.

    3) Please keep pets and children out of the work area so there are no accidents or disruptions.

    4) Do not use any store-bought products to try to remove any stains before we arrive, as these may interact with our cleaning agents.

    5) Please close the doors of areas we will not be cleaning. (We will not enter a closed door unless otherwise discussed.)

    6) Please notify us prior to the cleaning if any family members have severe allergies or health conditions that may be affected by cleaning products.

    7) We will bring in our own filtered and softened water, but occasionally may need access to a utility sink and/or an outside faucet.

    8) Please clear all entrances, walkways and stairs before our arrival.

    9) Furniture Moving: We can move standard size couches, end tables & chairs on furniture sliders to clean underneath, and then will put blocks/tabs underneath the feet. All other furniture will remain in place and we’ll clean around those pieces. If your desire is to have the entire room empty of furniture before we clean, that is your (homeowner’s) responsibility before we arrive. If it is sitting on carpet that will be cleaned, we highly recommend waiting 24 hours before placing the furniture back on the carpet to give it enough time to fully dry.

    10) Make sure little things are picked up off the floor before we arrive. We will clean around what is left on the floor but want to make sure we can get to as much of the carpet as possible.

    11) If you have pets that shed or you haven't vacuumed in a while, please do a quick vacuuming to get up the top layer of debris on the carpet. When we arrive, we'll take care of the deep cleaning!

  • Do I need to move all my furniture out to have my carpet cleaned?

Short answer: No. We can clean around furniture.

Typically, this is how we handle furniture moving:

    1) In living rooms, we are able to put furniture sliders underneath standard size couches, loveseats, chairs & end tables and then clean underneath them. (We'll tab/block the feet.) Everything else, we clean around.

    2) In bedrooms, we clean around the furniture in the bedrooms. (Dressers are typically heavy and we don't want to break center supports underneath beds, so we don't move them.)

    3) If you'd like everything moved out of the room(s) to be cleaned, that would be your responsibility before we arrive. After the cleaning, we recommend waiting 24 hours or until the carpet is totally dry before moving the furniture back to avoid color transfer from furniture feet (wood/metal) onto damp carpet.

  • How Long will it take the carpet to dry?

When we’re done cleaning, the carpet will be slightly damp to the touch. It will probably take about 6-8 hours for the carpet to dry, but it really depends on the humidity levels inside and outside. We recommend turning the ceiling fans on and setting the furnace fan to “ON” for at least 24 hours to lower humidity levels in your home.

Please note that if your carpet is a little loose, it may have some ripples after cleaning due to humidity relaxing the carpet backing. This is completely normal! As the carpet dries, the backing will tighten up again and the ripples will dissipate. It may take up to 48 hours for this to completely resolve.

  • When can I walk on the carpet and move back my furniture?

If you need to walk on the carpet while it’s still damp, wear socks (light foot traffic only). Shoes will track dirt and bare feet will leave oils on the carpet. Both of these will attract dirt, causing the carpet to re-soil faster than wearing socks (unless they’re dirty 😉 ).

Furniture can be moved back onto the carpet after 24 hours. If the feet on your furniture are plastic, earlier is fine. But wood or metal feet may leave a discoloration on the carpet if it’s still damp. Best to wait until the next day when possible.

  • What should I use to clean carpet spots & spills?

We’re glad you asked! We have a terrific product in stock (only sold at A Guy In A Truck) called “Spot Out” that works on all kinds of food & drink spots and spills, plus things like blood, crayon, grass, grease, latex paint, oil, shoe polish, vomit, wax, wine and more. “Spot Out” leaves your carpet fresh and free of sticky, soil-attracting residues without any rinsing. Visit our showroom to pick up your bottle!

  • What can I use to clean pet's accidents?

    We have a few recommendations:

    1) Spot Out - You may have received a sample of this in a goody bag after your carpet cleaning. We also have larger bottles available for purchase.

    2) Furry Freshness removes pee, poo, puke & more! We may have a few more in stock or you can purchase it online.

    3) Nature's Miracle can be found at local stores and does not interact with the cleaning agents that we use.

(We do NOT recommend using other carpet cleaners, oxidizers or enzymes because they may discolor the carpet before, during or after a carpet cleaning and they can also interfere with a professional grade enzyme treatment that may be required to remove pet accident soiling/odor from a carpet. But the 3 recommendations above are fine to try on your own and won't interfere or cause any issues.)

  • How often should I vacuum my carpet?

Carpet should be vacuumed at least 1x/week, but if there are pets in your home, it should be 2-3 times/week. Carpet acts like a filter and catches everything in the air like dust, germs, pet fur and dander, etc. How clean your carpet is (like an air filter) will determine your air quality. Make sure you have a good quality vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter. This will be especially helpful with pets in the home, as it will trap the allergens in the vacuum instead of blowing them back into the air. If you need help finding a good vacuum, we recommend the Sanitaire QuietClean® SC5845B HEPA Upright Vacuum that we use on every job.
